We have had a wonderful trip to Worlds. It's How You Look at It team had a presentation in long term that came together in fine form. Style points were very strong and they rocked spontaneous.
Team is 10th best in the WORLD!

We would like to thank everyone and the companies that are helping us get to the World competition at Michigan State University. We are looking forward to competing against teams from all over the United States and countries from all over the world like Russia and Singapore. We are getting closer to our goal but are still not quite there yet. Thank you for your continued support. We couldn't do it without you all.

CHS Team Heads for WORLD COMPETITION!
Carlsbad High School sends team to World Competition for the first time!
Our team chose to compete in the “It’s How You Look at It” problem. We worked throughout the school year to design, build, write, and present a humorous performance on our perspective of what is socially acceptable as “normal” behavior. The presentation is presented in a math themed concept, completely in rhyme. What we consider normal may shock others and that we all should stop to appreciate that we are all unique. Keep in mind two negatives come together to make a positive. Our team competed in the Regional competition in Palm Springs and qualified for the State Competition in Northern California. At the State Competition, we for the first time for CHS earned the state champion title and the opportunity to compete at the World Finals competition held at Michigan State University at the end of May.
The World Finals competition will include teams from all over the world – 800+ of them. We are really excited to present our solution and compete against teams from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. We also get the chance to meet students from all over the world and see how they solved the same creativity challenges that we faced.
Getting our team to the World Finals competition is going to be a creative challenge for us too. In these tough times, our school cannot help us financially. So, we need to raise money to pay for our own travel, food, and housing for our team members, our coach and a school district representative. We also need to ship our team-created wooden backdrops, props, and costumes all the way from California to Michigan.

CALIFORNIA STATE TOURNAMENT SUCCESS!
A great season for all of the CHS Odyssey teams.
Tumble-Wood team goes to state with balsawood structure in hand and a polished presentation. Everything came together for the long-term presentation. Balsawood structure weighing less that 15grams help over 300 pounds! Nice job. Team comes in third in the spontaneous competition in the state. Overall the team placed seventh in the state. Great work and season.
The It's How You Look At It team goes to state with an unusual presentation on math in a drama form and has great success. Using a life-size shadow box and math puns, along with competing well in spontaneous the team becomes California State Champions! Team has now qualified to travel to the World Competition in May!
Carlsbad High School Odyssey of the Mind teams represent Lancers with high energy and focus to bring home the medals! Great season.

Regional competition in Palm Springs a great success for CHS Odyssey of the Mind!
CHS had two teams at the competition. Team - It's How You Look At It and Team - Tumble-Wood.
The It's How You Look At It Team did a play format presentation of an original humorous performance that includes two characters that act naturally -- to them -- but odd to those around them.
